As Pokémon was extremely popular back when this movie came out,[original research?] it was a box office hit worldwide. It primarily consists of three segments: Pikachu’s Vacation, a 20+ minute feature focusing on the most popular Pokémon character Pikachu; Origin of Mewtwo, a 10-minute featurette that functions as a prologue to the main feature; and Mewtwo Strikes Back, the main 75-minute movie feature. However, the United States dub version omitted "Origin of Mewtwo" from the package before its U.S. theatrical run due to its dark nature, as the target MPAA rating was a G; it was partially restored in the movie's release on VHS and DVD. The featurette was eventually dubbed and restored as a special feature in the U.S. release of the direct-to-video follow-up movie sequel Pokémon: Mewtwo Returns.

The devious leader of Team Rocket Organization, Giovanni, has a fervent ambition to take control of the Pokémon world through both financial and military means. To achieve his military needs he covets a Pokémon stronger and more adept than any other, a veritable living war weapon, so he enlists a scientist named Doctor Fuji to create this being from the DNA of the rarest and most powerful of Pokémon, Mew, which Fuji had found on a previous expedition in a jungle shrine to Mew. Fuji accepts, for he is heavily into the prospect of cloning to create and restore life itself, in the interest of bringing back his daughter, Amber, who had tragically lost her life in an accident of some sort. But rather than being broken like his wife, Fuji figured he could make a new clone of Amber, and was already in the process of attempting to grow a clone of Amber in his offshore laboratory, but his wife, as much as she loved their daughter, could not bear to see Fuji’s misguided drive to tinker with life, and thus she parted with him for good. Fuji then received the order from Giovanni to commence the Mew cloning project, and that he did simultaneously with his own Amber cloning project.



This is an introduction to the legendary three birds, Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres, around which the plot revolves, introducing the theme of a delicate balance between the forces of nature (a common theme throughout the Pokémon series), embodied by the very Pokémon who represent them. The idea of the legend is that should the balance of power between these three birds be destroyed, chaos would ensue, prompting the "Great Guardian" Lugia to rise from the depths of the sea to attempt to end the senseless destruction, yet only with the help of a "Chosen One" destined to save the world.

It is the ambition of a certain collector of Pokémon items to add Lugia to his collection by disrupting the balance of nature and summoning Lugia, believing himself able to tame the beast once he has brought together all three legendary birds. Though the man's name is not revealed in the movie, “Lawrence III” is given in pre-release sources and the name Gelardan is revealed in closed captioning.

Lawrence uses a technologically advanced airship to launch an ice attack on Fire Island, the home of Moltres, in order to drive it out. The legendary bird fights back but is swiftly captured.

Meanwhile, as Ash and company travel throughout the Orange Islands on board a boat captained by Maren (Michiko), a storm suddenly brews up, sending them off course. Soon after, they end up beached on Shamouti Island, coincidentally arriving during an annual festival which honors the aforementioned legendary birds. Ash agrees to play the role of the festival’s ceremonial “Chosen One”, and is faced with the task of retrieving three elemental orbs from the three nearby islands (and residences of Articuno, Zapdos and Moltres), and return them to a shrine, representing the uniting of the powers of Fire, Ice and Lightning.

n the beginning, a human wakes up and realizes he has turned into Squirtle. After digesting this fact a bit, he decides to join a Pokémon Rescue Team called "Team Go-Getters", along with Chikorita and Charmander. They hear of a mission to save Pichu's missing older brother, Pikachu; and the popular Team A.C.T. (Alakazam, Charizard, and Tyranitar) is busy rescuing Plusle and Minun from Magma Cavern. However, they will not be the only ones doing the mission. Another team called "Team Meanies" (Gengar, Ekans, and Medicham) will be doing it, as well.

Before they start the mission, Team Go-Getters swings by the Kecleon shop to buy some items, but are dismayed to learn that Team Meanies purchased everything in the shop. Later, Team Go-Getters runs into Team Meanies, and Team Meanies proves their namesake when Gengar commands Ekans to devour all of Go-Getters' berries, save for two Oran Berries.

Ash, Misty and Brock drop their Pokémon off on a park on top of a building while they set up something secret, Ash explaining they'll be back at exactly 6:00 pm. Pikachu takes interest in a pair of Pichu on an opposite skyscraper, but gets into trouble when he is attacked by Murkrow, falls off a pole, hops across a line of Hoppip and then sends Meowth (who is window cleaning) flying into a billboard, before joining the Pichu Bros. The Pichu tell Pikachu they can get him back to his friends but instead they go off towards their hideout, going on a wild ride across the city. On the way they upset a Houndour who chases the three, but they escape when a Snorlax rolls over on it, crushing it. Pikachu, Pichu, and the hideout's other Pokémon residents play at the hideout but Houndour returns, causing mayhem for them. The hideout becomes unstable and threatens to collapse, but the Pokémon all work together to save it. Then Pikachu realizes it is nearly six o'clock and he and the Pichu race back to the building just in time. The Pichu Bros. bid farewell to Pikachu and head off. Ash, Misty and Brock return and reveal to the Pokémon that they planned a surprise party for them, because it is the anniversary of the day Ash and Pikachu first met. The movie ends with the narrator musing over how Pikachu both met Ash and the Pichu on the same day and how they may meet again.

An evil Pokemon collector, The Iron Masked Marauder, is corrupting Pokemon with his Dark Ball, which maximizes the power of a Pokemon to its highest, but also makes that Pokemon evil. Apparently he's been looking for a Pokemon named Celebi, a rare Pokemon said to be connected to the forest (it's even known as the "Voice of the Forest"). However, he doesn't know that Celebi is currently forty years in the past. An evil person was hunting it down, but the hurt Celebi was saved by a boy named Sammy, who suddenly went into the future (present time) with Celebi. Not too long after Celebi's arrival in present day with Sammy, the Iron Masked Marauder tries to capture it, and Ash and friends, once again, must save the day.



Ash and crew have now landed in Altomare, a city of vast water canals and mazes. But there is an insidious plot underfoot as the two slick thieves Annie and Oakley plan to steal a powerful magical jewel, the Soul Dew, being guarded by two new Pokemon, Latios and Latias. Ash and the rest of the gang find themselves in the thick of the action as they try to stop the thieves and save Altomare.



Pokémon: Jirachi Wish Maker (劇場版ポケットモンスター アドバンスジェネレーション 七夜の願い星 ジラーチ, Gekijōban Poketto Monsutā Adobansu Jenerēshon Nanayo no Negaiboshi Jirāchi?, lit. "Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation the Movie: The Wishing Star of Seven Nights: Jirachi") is the sixth film associated with the Pokémon animated series, and is the first one featuring the characters from Advanced Generation; as such, this is the first movie to not feature Misty, as she wasn't a part of the Advanced Generation cast. It was accompanied by the short Gotta Dance. It was released in theaters in Japan on July 19, 2003. The English adaptation was released directly to VHS and DVD by Buena Vista Home Entertainment on June 1, 2004. This was the second Pokémon film (the first being Mewtwo Returns) to be released directly to DVD & VHS in the US. The release date for the UK was October 23, 2006 to celebrate the Pokémon 10th Anniversary Tour in Britain. In the UK, the film was released by Paramount Home Entertainment. Although Cartoon Network currently airs the film, it aired on Toon Disney on March 9, 2007 (due to the fact that Miramax released the film), being the first Pokémon film to air on Toon Disney.

The featured song in this movie is Asuca Hayashi's Chiisaki Mono in both the English and Japanese versions (however, the English version, titled Make a Wish, adds English lyrics in addition to the Japanese lyrics). This is also the first movie in which the original song is also used in the English version (that can be clearly heard). It is also the first time in which the names of the guest characters were the same in both the English and Japanese versions



Pokémon: Destiny Deoxys (劇場版ポケットモンスター アドバンスジェネレーション 裂空の訪問者 デオキシス, Gekijōban Poketto Monsutā Adobansu Jenerēshon Rekkū no Hōmonsha Deokishisu?, lit. "Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation the Movie: Deoxys, the Visitor from a Fissure in the Sky") is the seventh film in the Pokémon series, complementing the seventh season (Pokémon: Advanced Challenge). It is the second film released under Pocket Monsters Advanced Generation in Japan. The original Japanese version was released in theaters on July 22, 2004. It was edited for the American release as the Japanese version contained a few scenes that were considered too intense for American children.

The English adaptation debuted on Kids' WB on January 22, 2005, albeit edited for running time. However, the network received their best ratings since 2003 and during the first month of 2005, had beaten anything from the previous year.

The film was subsequently released on DVD and video on February 15, 2005. It added an additional 15 minutes that were cut from the broadcast version.

Destiny Deoxys is the first film to not be preceded by an animated short, instead dedicating the extra time to the movie proper. The featured Pokémon that normally are in the short instead appear as asides in the main film.



Ash arrives at Cameron Palace where a festival is being held to celebrate Sir Aaron, an ancient hero who averted a war that was about to begin outside of the Tree of Beginning. At the festival, Ash competes in a tournament at Cameron Palace and wins, to become the "Aura Guardian" for that year. As part of the celebration, Ash is granted Aaron's staff, which contains his Pokémon companion, Lucario, whom Aaron had sealed before stopping the war.

However, Pikachu is taken away by Mew when an adventurer named Kidd attempts to put a tracker on the legendary Pokémon using her Weavile. Naturally Ash, with the help of Lucario, follows Mew to the Tree of Beginning in order to rescue Pikachu. There is but one problem. After being sealed in the staff, Lucario has completely lost his trust for humans. Then Ash earns Lucario's trust and they enter the Tree of Beginning. They are attacked by Regirock, Regice, and Registeel, the tree's guardians who recognize them as a threat.

A mysterious egg floats by in the ocean teaming with Pokemon. It glides along the water, going through a school of Remoraid, past a few Clamperl, Cloyster, and what not. The egg finally settles down as a group of Laturn and Chinchou have a look. Suddenly the school of fish swim away as spotlights shine upon the egg. Above the water, three helicopters hover low over the surface, scanning the egg. Confirmation of the "treasure" is relayed to a large submarine underwater, where aboard Captain Phantom of the Phantom Troop executes his plan to secure the egg. His Chatot flies onto the shoulder of the Captain's right hand man, sqwaking the Captain's words.

The Mastermind of Mirage Pokémon (戦慄のミラージュポケモン, Senritsu no Mirāju Pokemon?, lit. "The Terrifying Mirage Pokémon") is a special hour-long episode of the Pokémon anime series created for the tenth anniversary of the franchise. This special premiered on Kids' WB! on April 29, 2006. It became available on DVD in the United States on September 19, 2006 as a special feature on the 2-disc Pokémon: Lucario and the Mystery of Mew release. In Japan the special was available for download as 戦慄のミラージュポケモン on the official site from October 13-October 31, 2006.

This special marked the first time English-language production was handled by Pokémon USA and TAJ Productions rather than 4Kids Entertainment, who were responsible for all Pokémon licensing except video games, and the trading card game outside of Asia from 1998 until 2005. As a result of this change, the English-language version of the special featured an all-new voice cast, replacing the 4Kids-based actors, many of whom had worked on the show for eight years. The one exception was Rodger Parsons, who returned at the narrator.

On their way to participate in the next Pokémon contest, Ash and his friends have come to Alamos Town, where they meet a woman named Alice. Alice guides them around the landmarks of the town - the Space-Time Tower and the beautiful gardens filled with greenery and water, and while they are completely absorbed by the sightseeing, they discover that the gardens have been devastated by someone. Then, Baron Alberto, an influential man of the town, comes on to the scene. Alberto is confident that the devastation is the work of the legendary Pokémon Darkrai. Then, from the ominous shadows, Darkrai suddenly appears before them. A never-before known Pokémon, just who is Darkrai? Just at that moment, a fierce battle between Dialga and Palkia is unfolding in an interval of space-time. Space-time is torn apart by the collision of terrible energies. Through the tear, Alamos Town can be seen...

The whole of Alamos Town is wrapped in an ominous fog, and a mysterious phenomenon arises where the people are unable to leave the town. Then, Tonio, who has become aware of the abnormal space-time phenomena, hastily analyzes the data, and discovers that the devastation of the garden was a sign that Palkia had entered the town. Palkia, having sustained injuries in its violent fight with Dialga, took refuge in Alamos Town. However, Darkrai senses the presence of Palkia and attacks it, causing a terrible battle. Furthermore, chasing Palkia, Dialga appears in Alamos Town from another dimension. When the two Pokémon called as gods encounter Darkrai, the greatest battle in history will begin. Powerful shockwaves shake all of Alamos Town, and before long the town is on the verge of collapse. The prediction written in Godey's diary is becoming reality... Will Ash and his friends be able to resolve this crisis? Is Darkrai an enemy or an ally? Just what is Oración?
