One Piece and Soul Eater

u know those two anime, rt? surely you know

well, about those two
most people hate the graphics and the drawing styles of those animes

(well, i once did too!) but now i love it

the storyline's great, plot's great, characters' nice

so wat else???

well, how do u feel about those graphics???

all was Tokyo Mew Mew (and that is

Hmm, speaking only for myself, but I like a variety of different art styles. I mean, the uber-well drawn, bishie filled animes like Bleach, Katekyo Hitman Reborn! and such are great, don't get me wrong but things like One Piece and Soul Eater are great in their own ways. They're kind of a throw-back to cute cartoons of the 80's to me. They're more westernized and child-ized than many other animes and that makes a lot of people dislike them. But the art style is refreshing and the stories of both are fantastic. Not to mention Death the Kidd from Soul Eater is one of the most hilarious and badapple characters I've seen in a while.

Haha, don't we have this conversation every time Soul Eater comes up in our conversations. You always point out the similarities. And I always say I don't see any. But that's just because I'm contrary. ~~You're right. They look alike.~~ Nothing alike at all personality wise though. I like Kidd because of the whole OCD thing. It lends something new to a character that would've been done a thousand other times in other animes.

OCD=Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Kidd has it horribly bad in an almost pitiful way. Mostly though it's used for comedic purposes.
And Kidd...happy? PSHAW! Even though he has Liz and Pattie right there, is he happy? No! Because their boob sizes aren't symmetrical. ~~Which he proves by groping them.~~

....I love the part when DtK was in the exam. He took the whole time to write his name and didn't succeed as he can't write Uppercase K in a symmetrical way. "No good, I'm a failure..." ROFL

Oh my, yes that was indeed a classic anime moment. Also, it's really funny how Kidd freaks out whenever anyone mentions his hair. The whole 'I'm trash, I'm not fit to live, I'm a failure!' tangents he goes on is definitely a major source of comic relief. But there's one definite thing I've noticed in Soul Eater in particular and in One Piece to a small amount. There's moments in Soul Eater where I wonder if it's a shonen manga or a soft-core porno. Seriously, there's nudity and rather suggestive situations. It almost seems like they're using the suggestiveness factor to compensate for the childishness of the anime style, which they really don't need to.

Haha, u guys all sure love Kidd XD. He's also my favorite character of the anime.
And in onepiece, you cant forget zoro, the cool greenhead with no sense of direction xD

Those animes are the real classics fun-crack animes that you can't leave out just becuase of the way of their drawings! Very Happy

And about that nudity and the suggestive themes, yes - both onepiece and soul-eater features those alot. may be u're right Momo Very Happy

Thanks Kei, Rimy. Momo only seems like she knows alot though...and that's only because she compulsively researches everything she reads or watches while reading or watching it. I'm virtually unable to watch or read anything without first knowing all the plot arcs, spoilers, endings, and character information. I have a compulsive need to be informed.

And kuro, I can't make it through an entire episode either, so I've given up. I can't make it all the way through the manga either....really, that series is one of the longest suckers I've ever seen. Seriously, I get about half-way through, to about the part where Pell dies and then I get bored with reading one thing for so long and end up moving on to another anime or manga.

imo ... i love one-piece though.
I'm up-to-date with both manga and anime xD

and the part where Pell died was like at around 100 episode. So it's not even half i think.
Soul eater was quite short though. I think, between these two animes, people would choose to watch soul eater bcos it's shorter? and not as LONG BORING as onepiece? xD

Hmm, not saying the longness is a bad thing. But One Piece does not air on my television so the only time I can watch it is on my computer...where I can watch only subs. Very slowly. Honestly, I can watch about three episodes a day for a couple days before my computer just quits on me...so watching an anime that is as long as One Piece on my hunk of junk would take the better part of a year. So it's only in that aspect that it's bad that One Piece is long. Now if I had it all on DVD...that would be an entirely different story. And you are right, Soul Eater was a rather short-ish anime.
